This course was created for the new PA, NP or doctor who needs to understand the basics of toxicology; whether it's in the ER, primary care or urgent care. This high yield 4 hour video course consists of multiple case scenarios going over the most common medical toxicology, accidental exposure, or overdose presentations encountered in these care settings. Our Master Clinicians Educator will review the management of a wide range of common adult and pediatric presentations including: accidental caustic eye injury; accidental pediatric ingestions; common food toxicity; common spider, snake, and other insect bites; marine animal envenomation; toxic plants; common medication overdoses such as salicylates, antidepressants, cardiac medications; and more.

This course consists of chapters of video lectures, each with multiple case scenarios going over diagnosis/differentials, evidenced-based management, and treatment. Kristin Schwab, MD, FACEP

Emergency Medicine Physician

Dr. Kristin Schwab is a practicing physician who is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences from Fordham University's Lincoln Center Campus. She also received a Master of Science in Education from Fordham University's Graduate School of Education. She received her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, the medical school for the New York Institute of Technology. She completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, which is part of the Northwell Health System. She also served as Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine. Currently, she works as an attending physician at CityMD, a Summit Health Company. She also teaches several lectures in Emergency Medicine every year to the students of Hofstra University's Physician Assistant program. She is also a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Schwab's academic interests include medical education, toxicology, critical care, and legal aspects of medical practice. She currently resides in Rockville Centre, New York with her husband and two young sons.
